Monday 26th July
On Monday the 19th there was a great buzz about the club as our Past Lady Captain's gathered for golf and lunch.The prizewinners of the 15 hole competition were, 1st Noreen Kinevane (18)34pts, 2nd Sheena Wiseman (21)31pts and 3rd Mary O'Brien (29)29pts. Lady Captain Mary Rogan welcomed her guests with some wonderful Spanish wine and told us that she looked forward to joining the ranks of the past captains in 2011. The good golf, great company and a delicious meal ensured that this annual occasion was enjoyed by all.
On Thursday 22nd the competition was graciously sponsored by Cois Sionna Credit Union and wonderful prizes were presented. The results were, Silver, Margaret Keyes (9)39pts, Best Gross, Ina Desmond (8)24 gross pts, 2nd Noreen Kinevane (18)38pts and 3rd Siobhan Curran (17)37pts Bronze,Mary Casey (27)38pts, Best Gross Catherine McNamara (21)16gross pts,2nd Claire Keneally (35)38pts and 3rd Mary Nolan (27)38pts. Well done ,ladies and many thanks to our sponsors.
Next Thursday we will have the Adare Challenge Cup, an 18 hole stroke competition.
On Thursday August 5th there will be a semi-open team of three competition and this will be a qualifer for the club Pro-Am to be held on August 15th.
We hope to see many members enter teams in support of this our inaugural Pro-Am at Adare Manor.

The Adare Challenge Cup - 18 Hole Stroke competition will be played on Thursday 29th July and the competition on 1st August will be an Open Team of Three (any combination).
The Friday Semi-Open Mixed Competition will be played this Friday 23rd July. Draws will run from 4.45pm to 6.00pm.

Monday 12th July
The results of the PGA Tankard 18 Hole S/Fd Competition sponsored by Mid West Tyres played on the 8th July were: 1st Gabrielle Ryan (25) 40 pts; 2nd Maura Burke (33) 39 pts; 3rd Anne Joyce (36) 38 pts. The category prize was won by Margaret Shovlin (22) 37 points.
The Full Lady Member 18 Hole S/Fd Competition was played on Sunday 11th July and the results were: 1st Noreen Kinevane (18) 38 pts, 2nd Gretta O'Regan (27) 36 pts.
This week is an Open Week and Thursday 15th July Competition is an 18 Hole Open Mixed Fourball. Thursday 22nd July is the Ladies Open Singles 18 Hole S/Ford Competition and is sponsored by Cois Sionna Credit Union. The timesheet for both of these competitions is available online. The results of the 18 Hole S/Fd Competition played on Thursday 1st July were 1st Mary Fitzgerald (32) 41 pts; 2nd Joan Higgins (28) 38 pts; 3rd Carmel Scanlon (29) 38 pts.
The results of the Friday Semi-Open Mixed played on Friday 2nd July were: 1st Maurice Danagher, Donal O'Shaughnessy & Margaret Hickey 34.2pts; 2nd Christy Bromell, Ewan Randall & Margaret Neville 34.8 pts, 3rd Terence Murray, Tom Hickey & Sheena Wiseman 37.1 pts.
The Full Lady Member 18 Hole S/Fd Competition was played on Sunday 4th July and the competition was won by Anne Murphy (21) 38 pts.

Monday 28th June
The Alzheimers Cup - 18 Hole S/Fd Charity Competition was played on Thursday 24th June. We would like to thank all those who played and supported this worthy charity. The results were 1st Mary Fynn (36) 44 pts; 2nd Nora Dwane (26) 42 pts; 3rd Lillian Quinn (36) 41 pts and category prise went to Bunty Guiry (21) 38 pts.
Our Lady Captain Mary Rogan held her Captains Day on Saturday 26th June. There was a great turn out for the competition and we enjoyed perfect weather conditions on the day so it was no surprise to have great scores returned. A great crowd turned out for the evening and our Lady Captain gave a talk full of wit and humour about her golfing prowess. We had a brilliant night where music, song and dance was enjoyed by all. The results of the competition were as follows: Mary Keane (21) 60 nett; Best Gross Margaret Keyes (9) 76 Gross; 2nd Bernie Moroney (36) 61 nett; 3rd Kay Enright (36) 62 nett; 4th Marian Noonan (32) 63 nett; 5th Mary Fitzgerald (34) 63 Nett; 6th Nell Madden (33) 63 nett; 7th Mary Moran (36) 64 nett; 8th Teresa Dolan (36) 64 nett; 9th Nicola Dolan (36) 66 nett; Best 36 Handicap Mary Rose Cremin (36) 69 nett; Nearest the Pin 6th Mary Hogan; Nearest the Pin 12th Kathleen O'Brien; Front 9 Hisako Iioh; Back 9 Nancy Fitzgibbon. The Past Captain's prize went to Valerie Ross (25) 64 nett. The Competition Standard Scratch was 68. The Lady Captains Seniors S/Fd Competition was won by Marie McCartan (36) 22 pts and 2nd was Marie Robinson (36) 21pts. The Lady Juniors competition was won by Rachel Costello and 2nd was Amy Fitzgibbon. The Beginners competition was won by Meriel Clarke and 2nd was Mairead Horan. The visitors prize went to Eamonn Curran. The results of the Men's Competition are; 1st Kieran Darcy, 2nd John McCormack, 3rd Peter Donovan.
This Thursday's Competition 1st July is an 18 Hole S/Fd competition. Draws throughout the day as usual. The PGA Tankard 18 Hole S/Fd Competition will be on the 8th July. This results of this competition will form part of the Golfer of the year competition.

The Open Day Team of Two 18 hole S/Fd competition was played on 17th June and was kindly sponsored by Cavanagh's of Charleville. The results were 1st Deirdre Ward (22) and Mary Fitzgerald (34) 53 pts; 2nd Mary Liston (17) and Marian Noonan (32) 48 pts; Eithne Hehir (11) and Siobhain Fitzpatrick (25) 47 pts. We would like to thank Cavanagh's of Charleville for their generous sponsorship of this competition.
The results of the Friday Mixed Semi-Open 3 Ball Scramble Competition played on 18th June were: 1st Andy McNamara, Frank Geary & Margaret Hennessy 35.6 pts; 2nd Michael O'Donnell, Nancy Fitzgibbon & Margaret Neville 35.8 pts; Donal O'Shaughnessy, Liam Fitzgibbon & Shiela Joyce 36 pts. There will be no Friday mixed on 25th June and note that the course will be closed to ladies from 4.30pm on Friday as the course will be set-up for the Lady Captain's competition the following day.
The Alzheimers Cup - 18 Hole S/Fd Charity Competition is being played on Thursday 24th June. Draws as usual up to 6pm. All proceeds will go to the Adare Branch of the Alzheimers Association of Ireland.
The Lady Captain's Day 18 Hole Stroke Competition will be held this Saturday 26th June. The draw was made on Monday night and members should check the notice board for Tee times. The men's draw will take place from 4.30pm onwards.
Please note that the Alzheimers Cup and the Lady Captain's competitions are also Golfer of the Year Competitions.
Congratulations to our Mixed Foursomes Team who won on Saturday and Sunday last and we wish you all the best for the next round. We would also like to extend our best wishes to the Junior Ladies team who are playing in Ennis Golf Club on 26th June.

The Lady Olien and Lady Adare Cups Stroke Competitions were played on 20th May 2010. The results of the Silver section are as follows: 1st Mary Fagan (14) 67 nett. Mary also had a 'Hole in one' on the first. Best Gross Margaret Keyes (9) 79 Gross; 2nd Emer Rouane (19) 69 nett; 3rd Noreen Kinevane (19) 69 nett. The results of the Bronze section were: 1st Caroll Shine (31) 67 nett; Best Gross Merlyn O'Connor (21) 89 Gross; 2nd Patsy Clifford (36) 69 nett; 3rd Carmelita McGloughlin (23) 69 nett. The Open Mixed Fourball was played on Friday 21st May 2010 and the results were: 1st Pat O'Brien and Sheena Wiseman on 42 pts; 2nd Captain Kieran Carroll and Lady Captain Mary Rogan on 41 pts; 3rd Declan Mooney and Martina Scanlon 41 pts.

Next Thursday's competition 27th May is a Stroke competition and draws will be made as normal. We would like to remind ladies that to be eligible for the Lady Captain's Prize on 26th June, that two Stroke Competition cards have to be returned. There are only two Stroke Competitions left, these are 27th May and 10th June.
The Eileen Murphy Foursomes Competition is being played on Thursday 3rd June and the timesheet for this competition is available in the Clubhouse.
The Friday night Mixed Scramble will continue this Friday evening 28th May. Draws will run from 4.45pm to 6.15pm. All members are welcome to play.

The Australian Spoons Foursomes Competition was held on Thursday 13th May and some great scores were returned as follows:
1st 47 pts Mary O'Brien (26) and Mary Murphy (33); 2nd on 43 pts (back 6) Kathleen O'Brien (19) and Breda Gantley (29);
3rd 43 pts Ina Desmond (9) and Martina Scanlon (17).
Next Thursday 20th May is an Open Stroke Competition playing for the Lady Olien and Lady Adare Cups.
We would like to remind you that Friday 21st May sees the start of our Open weekend with an Open Mixed Fourball from 1.30 to 6pm;
Saturday 22nd is the Gents/Ladies/Junior 18 hole S/F competition and Sunday 23rd May is an Open Three ball Scramble.

The Friday night Mixed was well attended with 45 playing. 1st 36.2 pts Michael O'Donnell, Margaret Neville and Kathleen O'Brien; 2nd 36.8 pts Seamus Dundon, Lillian Quinn and Eugene Quinn; 3rd 37.1 Brian Murray, Neil Fitzgibbon and Lady Captain Mary Rogan . A BBQ and Country and Western night was held after the mixed and a fantastic night was had by all. Congratulations to Sheena Wiseman and Siobhan Curran for winning Best Dressed prizes a huge thanks to Margaret Hickey, Martina Scanlon and Anna Houlihan for organising the event.
